Hello All,
I am hoping someone out in that location can help resolve a problem I have regarding the use of iCloud Bulldoze on my elderly Imac running OSX 10.6.8. I have been accessing my iCloud Drive via Finder quite happily for about a yr, but a few days ago the hard drive went pop and I had to accept a new bulldoze and OSX installed. Since and so I cannot find a way of getting iCould Drive inserted into the finder's Sidebar. I know that 10.half dozen.8 is not supposed to be compatible, but as I was able to become it working last fourth dimension (I can't think but presumably later finding a solution on the web) I cannot sympathise why, subsequently hours of searching this fourth dimension, I tin can detect no data at all on how to do it.

Any communication or information would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our forums.

Do you accept a fill-in of your older hard bulldoze? Time Machine worked just as well with Snowfall Leopard as it does now with Loftier Sierra. If you have a backup, restore from information technology and your iCloud drive should appear.

Also, do not overlook something simple: Open Finder, select Preferences, select Side Bar. Make sure that iCloud drive has a check mark (selected).

While that machine might exist elderly, it can likely exist upgraded to El Cap at least. That will give you iCloud without the hacks and also ensure that recent apps volition continue to work. Most updated apps use 10.x Yosemite as a minimum requirement. While El Cap isn't getting security updates, existence newer it has updates that your 10.vi.8 Snow Leopard auto doesn't have and it'south always good to exist as new equally possible.

While that machine might be elderly, it tin can probable be upgraded to El Cap at to the lowest degree.

If it's a Early on 2006 family iMac it'due south limited to Maximum MacOS: Ten 10.6.8 per everymac.com.

As for some possible options for the OP, maybe go through some of the hits from here:
https://world wide web.google.com/search?clien...ive+in+Finder+of+OSX+ten.6.8&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-eight

I know I got parts of iCloud sort of half-assed working with my SL, but I'thou sure I didn't do anything elaborate similar the directions URL posted just I didn't exercise much with it.

If I recall, it also used the onetime Apple tree security method before their current 2FA method and information technology may not exist accessible any more to get it working. But I'm non certain.

Apple tree may also be restricting "un-supported" Finder apply admission as well lately with all their "security" things. But I'one thousand not sure.

Perhaps just utilise the browser access method which isn't exactly ideal fifty-fifty if and when it does work.

And no, I'k sure not a fan of Apple iCloud and the ways it may or may not work… or not!!!

Starting time, thanks to all who have responded. It'south reassuring to know that there is and then much speedy help out there.

I did not run backups, practise I suppose I deserve all I got. (I take set Time Machine running now - closing the stable door etc., but it should stop any more horses bolting.)

It seems El Capitan will non get on this machine.

I've tried the link provided by one of the responders but no luck I'm afraid - I had been there before and not establish the answer.

I tin access iCloud Drive easily through a browser, and that is good, but having to download for editing, then remembering to upload the edited version after ditching/renaming the original, is a bit of a pain - which of course I don't have to endure when using my Windows machines. I do not need to synchronise with iCloud, I merely need to exist able to open up and work with files straight from the iCloud Bulldoze, just like whatsoever other bulldoze. What really bugs me is that I cannot find any instructions on the web for getting the iCloud Drive to prove in Finder, knowing that I have done information technology once successfully in the not likewise distant past.

Thanks again for all your responses. I will stay optimistic on the basis that the answer is out at that place somewhere.

cheers
